The importance of volunteers in our sport can never be overestimated. Whether someone acts as a volunteer on our board, at an event, as a coach or manager, or takes on any any of the other tasks to keep the association running, the efforts that are put forth deserve our heartiest congratulations and recognition.
It is for that reason that the Terry Burgess Trophy for NKMLA Volunteer of the Year Award was created. In recognition of long time minor and Junior B lacrosse volunteer Terry Burgess, the trophy will be awarded annually to an outstanding volunteer whose unselfish and dedicated service to our association and the sport of lacrosse has made a significant difference in our lacrosse community.
It is with great pride that we announce the inaugural recipient of the Terry Burgess Trophy for Volunteer of the Year is Kathi Moran-Weekes.
This year’s recipient is a name you will surely recognize. Kathi has acted as a volunteer in our lacrosse community in many different ways – as a board member, our registrar, booking hotels for our competitive teams, managing competitive teams, being a key tournament volunteer and countless other ways. There truly isn’t another person who embodies what it means to give back to your association more than Kathi.
Kathi, we can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done, and truly can’t think of a better person to have as the first name engraved on the Terry Burgess Trophy. You have made us #KnightsProud
