Referees

Are you interested in refereeing lacrosse this year? If so, you will need to be certified by the Ontario Lacrosse Association. There are a few requirements that must be fulfilled before you can start (see below), but once these are met you are ready to start refereeing.

Both returning referees and those interested in refereeing for the first time this season MUST contact the Referee-in-Chief, James Forster by email indicating the intention to referee, age and referee level obtained.


2012 Field Lacrosse Referee Clinic #1 :TBD

There will be a Level 1/2 certification clinic to be held at St. Matthew Catholic High School, 6550 Bilberry in Orleans on TBD, The cost will be covered by the Knights Association.

Those interested in refereeing at the lower age groups must be at least 14 years old. In order to officiate the other groups you must be at least 18 years old.Those who want to concentrate on the youth fall term only will have a refresher (at no extra cost) as the season draws closer.For further information contact Jim Jordan, CLA Clinician at 3laxboys@rogers.com

2012 Box Lacrosse Referee Clinic #1 : TBD

There will be a Box Lacrosse Referee certification clinic to be held at St. Matthew Catholic High School, 6550 Bilberry in Orleans on TBD The cost will be covered by the Knights Association.

Registration will take place between 8:15am-9:00am followd by the Clinic from 9:00am-4:30pm.

Age Requirement:

Must turn at least 14 years old during the calendar year.

Prerequisites:

Familiarity with game and rules of Box Lacrosse

Training Session:

The Referee Clinic will be held in the Zone 5 area. Referee shirt, rule book, situation handbook are provided. Referee must provide whistle, pants, white socks and running shoes. The fee for this clinic is paid by the Nepean Knights Minor Lacrosse Association on the condition that the person does referee a minimum amount of games as requested.

Pay:

$10.00- $25.00 per game

Game Scheduling:

Normally one week in advance, referees are assigned a minimum of 2 consecutive games per day required. Most games are played on weekdays (Monday thru Thursday) – between 6:00 and 10:00PM with some weekends.

TIMEKEEPERS

Are you interested in timekeeping lacrosse this year? If you are available the NKMLA would like to hear from you. There are a few requirements that must be fulfilled before you can start (see below), but once these are met you are ready to start timekeeping.

Age Requirement:

Minimum age requirement is 12 years (some exceptions may apply).

Experience Required:

Familiarity with game and basic rules of Box Lacrosse

Training Session:

One hour orientation group session for the use of the scoreboard clock and shot clock

Pay:

$10.00 per game (one hour games – payment at the end of the month)

Game Scheduling:

Normally one week in advance; generally referees are assigned 2 to 3 consecutive games per day required. Most games are played on weekdays (Monday thru Thursday) – between 6:00 and 10:00PM with some weekends.

Locations:

Sittsville CC, Jack Charron, Malack Arena, Richmond Arena, Bell Arena, Merivale Arena Manotick Arena
