President’s Message

Nepean Knights Minor Lacrosse Association

Dear Parents and Players,

On behalf of the Nepean Knights Minor Lacrosse executive, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome everyone back for what will surely be another exciting season of lacrosse.

Firstly I would like to thank our outgoing executive for the work they have done for our association; Peter Drisdelle (President), Shelly Emberson (Registrar) and Stuart Paynter (Secretary). Their volunteer efforts to build the Nepean Knights to where we are today will be missed. In order to replace their efforts and better serve our association we have expanded our executive to nine members.

New additions to the executive this year are; Rob Tait (Competitive Director), Shawn Thompson (House League Director), Tanya Thompson (Registrar), Kevin McKeown (Secretary) and Matt Firth (Vice President). Returning to the board are Kirk Kealey (Director), Jamie Forster (Director), Brenda Marquis (Treasurer) and myself. I am excited to work with this new team in ensuring our membership enjoys the best lacrosse experience possible.

Last year we launched our new logo and with it new uniforms for our competitive teams. The feedback we have received from our members and the lacrosse community in general has been resoundingly positive. We also invested a great deal into player safety with the purchase of new goalie equipment and nets for all of our arenas. We will continue to improve the goalie equipment available, particularly at the house league level, this year.

We are excited to have Bell and Merivale Arenas back this year after the renovations but unfortunately lost Mlacak and Jack Charron. Other arenas our teams will play in are Stittsville, Richmond and Manotick.

Our first change for the upcoming season is to enter our Bantam & Midget competitive 1 teams in the spring field program with the OMFLL. We believe that this pilot program will improve our players overall lacrosse skills. We have taken steps to ensure the success of this program and invite you to visit the field lacrosse section of the website for more detail.

Enjoy the rest of your winter; I look forward to seeing you at the arenas in the spring.
